Peanutbutta (a.k.a Peanut / PB) is a content creator and a member of The Decentraland Foundation in the area of Community Lead.  He is well-known for being one of the first YouTubers of Decentraland and the (ex) Social Media Manager of the Decentraland Foundation. He also works for MetaKey as a mod.

Beginnings

In late January 2021, Peanut was doing research about crypto when he read an announcement from Grayscale mentioning that they were incorporating $MANA as one of the investment options. He thought it was interesting that Grayscale was adding other cryptos apart from Bitcoin, so he decided to take a look at $MANA which immediately took him into Decentraland. 

The idea of Decentraland having an economy caught his attention, especially because he was already familiarized with other game economies such as the one of World Of Warcraft.  With this in mind, he started to explore the platform, and days after, he uploaded his first YouTube video.

Content creator career

Before becoming a content creator, Peanut realized that there wasn’t too much activity about Decentraland in YouTube. In fact, when he joined, most videos related to DCL were between six months and one year old. In his perspective, this was a great opportunity because the attention for the platform was growing and there was a space for him to make a carreer.

The first video Peanut uploaded to his YouTube channel consisted on him exploring the district ‘Crypto Valley’. From here on out, he would upload videos not only exploring the space but tutorials focused on Decentraland and crypto.

In mid-March 2021, Peanut received a message from GLHF (an employee of DG / Decentral Games) on Reddit where he asked him if he wanted to cover an event by uploading a YouTube video. At that time, PB was a Car Shop Manager, so he ended charging DG for the time he was not at work.

Time after, Peanut joined a streamer program that DG opened for content creators. The initiative consisted on Decentral Games sponsoring videos to streamers/YouTubers, by paying them monthly. After three months, the program stopped but he continued continued collaboarating with DG where he would participate in events.

On April 2021, the popular DCL content creator, KevinOnEarth, connected him with the owner of MetaKey, Matty (a.k.a DCLBlogger). This connection allowed him to become a moderator for the MetaKey Discord Server.

Work at The Decentraland Foundation

Around August 2021, The Decentraland Foundation was looking people for content creation. Toonpunk (a member of the Foundation), who already knew Peanut, decided to offer him a position as Social Media Manager. Peanut accepted and two weeks before joining The Decentraland Foundation, he stopped his relationships with DG (to avoid conflicts of interest).

On 2022, Peanut moved from being the Social Media Manager of Decentraland to a Community Lead position. His job now consists on extracting input from the community to improve the Foundation.
