This chapter will explain to you how to buy a name in Decentraland, which will give you access to a World as well as the ability to use it in-world.
Recommendations
- You can mint a unique name for 100 $MANA, if it hasn’t been claimed by anyone else. Names that are already taken can be purchased on the Decentraland Marketplace and OpenSea marketplaces. You can also bid if the one you like is not being sold.
- The easier to remember, the better it is. Repeating letters and making them long can sometimes be confusing.
Tutorial
Step 1.
To mint a name, go to builder.decentraland.org/names and click the ‘+’ symbol.
Step 3.
Choose the name you want to claim and if it’s available, you will be able to press ‘Claim 100MANA’. Confirm the name by writing it on the field and press ‘Confirm’.
Step 4.
To complete the purchase of your name, you have to sign two transactions with MetaMask. The first one is for allowing Decentraland to use your MANA and the second one is for confirming the purchase.
Step 5.
If your name was minted successfully, you should be able to see a screen like the one down below.
